Item: | Phacops |
Age: |
Devonian (350-400 myo) |
Size: | 2.25"; 3.5" matrix |
Location: | Morocco |
Notes:. | The classic phacops rana, most often found with it's cute little pygidium tucked under. Don't let the cuteness fool you- this guy was an active marine predator! Very nice preparation on this specimen, showcasing the well developed multifacted eyes and large glabellum. Trilobites, an extinct arthropod, are most closely related to the modern Horseshoe crab. |
