Item: | Whale Vertebra |
Age: |
Miocene-Pliocene (22 - 4.5 myo) |
Size: | 6 x 5 x 2" |
Location: | North Carolina |
Notes:. | It is incredibly difficult to identify the exact species these fossils originated from without also finding associated skull and jaw parts, or teeth. We do know with high probability they are from a whale spinal column. Although the processes are very rarely preserved, we can identify this is a cervical vertebra from the lneck of the whale. So cool! |
